Passage: Joshua 21:43-45
  Series Joshua
Description: Three verses summarize the story of the Book of Joshua, both experientially and theologically. While these verses do justice to the history of the people of Israel, they don't reveal what the facts in these verses meant to them. We'll try to recapture that in this message, for without doing so, we may not fully appreciate the theological truth of this book, found in the concluding verse. It's an important truth not only to hear but to apply if we want to have a life to enjoy.

Passage: Joshua 5:2-12
  Series Joshua
Description: After the dramatic crossing of the Jordan River, the people of Israel were finally in the Promised Land. No doubt everyone expected the next step would be to launch an offensive campaign against Jericho. However, that was not what happened. What did happen has some important lessons for the way we as followers of Jesus life our daily lives.

Passage: Joshua 2
  Series Joshua
Description: Of all places to discover a believer in the God of Israel, Jericho would be last on the list. That city was right in Israel's path to enter the Promised Land and would be the first one Israel would have to defeat to succeed in their invasion. Yet there in that frightened city a young woman had put two and two together spiritually and had become a believer in the one true God. And she just happened to be in just the right place to help God's people and rescue her family from certain death. If you wonder if God has gone ahead of you, wonder no more.

Passage: Joshua 1
  Series Joshua
Description: Does God keep his promises? The book of Joshua answers with a resounding yes! The great leader of the Exodus has died. The people of Israel have not yet received the land promised to their forefathers centuries before. Giants and walled cities defend that land. So frightening were they that an entire generation of Israelite wandered in the wilderness rather than risk trying to conquer the land they knew was a land of milk and honey. A new generation has risen and a new leader along with them. As we'll see in this opening chapter of Joshua, God is about to use Joshua to fulfill his promise of a rich and abundant land for his people. Before he does, he gives Joshua some needed encouragement and instruction. Joshua then gives his first orders to the nation and they enthusiastically affirm his call to be their leader. This story is not just history, but is a story about God and his faithfulness, and the plan he has to bless his people. It reveals to us the God we serve today and his ways.

Passage: 3 John
Description: John's brief letter to a Christian named Gaius introduces us to three members of the early church. In the space of just 15 verses we get clear-cut portraits of these three men. We'll have a chance to see not only their leading traits, but who it is they are really serving. Each of us will get the chance to ask ourselves, "Which of these three church members am I most like?"

Passage: 2 John
Description: In this brief letter, John instructs 'the elect lady' and her children in how they as God's children are to walk in the truth. This is no secondary matter for John, for truth and the good news about Jesus go hand in hand, and anyone who does not walk in the truth cannot be considered a genuine follower of Jesus. Discover with us four ways we as Christ-followers today must relate to the truth found in the gospel.

Passage: Proverbs 31:8-9
Description: The advice given to an ancient King found in the book of Proverbs serves as a simple three step approach each of us can take to confront the injustice many in our nation are still facing.
Date: Sunday, June 28, 2020       Teacher: Mark Smith     Duration: 52 mins 59 secs
Passage: 1 John 5:14-21
Description: John closes his letter with additional words of encouragement. First he points out the confidence that believers can have as they pray and the reason for it, and then he points out the confidence they gain from what they know. With a brief warning, John ends this letter to his beloved "little children."
Date: Sunday, June 21, 2020       Teacher: Mark Smith     Duration: 36 mins 11 secs
Description: John uses the word 'know' eight times in the closing chapter of his first letter, and the words 'faith' or 'believe' seven times. This focus on knowing and believing is part of John's desire to close his letter with words that will encourage his readers. In the first part of the chapter, John focuses on faith and what faith does for the Christian.

Passage: 1 John 4:13-21
Description: As John begins to conclude his letter, he reviews one of his important themes: that genuine members of the fellowship with God can be confident in their standing before Him and can be certain they will be with Him eternally. John brings back three terms he already used: abide, love, and perfected to show how those together provide the security genuine children of God can enjoy.
