The Inarnation of Jesus

Nov 2016 - Jan 2017
Sermons in this series
Date: Monday, January 02, 2017       Teacher: Mark Smith     Duration: 26 mins 51 secs
Description: As we close this series of messages on the incarnation of God in Jesus of Nazareth, we focus on the continuing importance of the incarnation. Rather than shelve thoughts about the incarnation until next Christmas, we should appreciate four ways in which the incarnation impacts our daily lives as Christians, and how it impacts our message to non-Christians.
Date: Sunday, December 25, 2016       Teacher: Mark Smith     Duration: 27 mins 30 secs
Passage: Luke 2:8-20
Description: The Christmas story involves some shepherds who learned of the birth of God's Son through an angel and responded to that good news. What they learned from the angel and what they did, has something to say to us about discovering the incarnation ourselves.
Date: Sunday, December 18, 2016       Teacher: Mark Smith     Duration: 25 mins 48 secs
Description: Certainly if God became man he had a reason for doing so. As we'll discover that reason did not lie within himself. He had no need to become a man. The reason lay within us. God took on flesh to solve three critical problems we have.
Date: Sunday, December 11, 2016       Teacher: Mark Smith     Duration: 34 mins 55 secs
Description: The incarnation, whose facts are familiar to most Christians, should be a source of wonder. As we'll see in this message, there is more than just right belief at stake in the incarnation. We should have a changed heart, a heart moved by awe and gratitude for what was involved in God the Son becoming incarnate as Jesus of Nazareth.
Date: Sunday, December 04, 2016       Teacher: Mark Smith     Duration: 28 mins 19 secs
Passage: Micah 5:2 & Isaiah 9:6-7
Description: Is the incarnation of God in Jesus of Nazareth something entirely new to the New Testament or was anything like this promised in the Old Testament? As we'll see today there are a few Old Testament scriptures that on their own are dim and mysterious, but in the light of the New Testament clearly foretell what God was going to do. They link the two testaments together and show the Bible as one continuing story of God's plan of salvation.
Date: Sunday, November 27, 2016       Teacher: Mark Smith     Duration: 39 mins 40 secs
Description: In this first of a series of messages on the incarnation of Jesus we'll examine whether the incarnation is taught in scripture or is a later idea created by the church. Once we've established the scriptural fact of the incarnation, we'll clarify what we mean by this term, and defend the incarnation of Jesus against the claim other world religions have similar teachings.
