In this concluding message on living victoriously, we find the key that makes all we learned about the victorious life effective: faith. Faith activates the truths we’ve learned. We will let Paul teach us this and see how walking in faith enabled Paul to be victorious again and again.

Paul’s fifth secret to living victoriously has to do with what he looked at. Most of us look at our circumstances, our resources, our abilities, etc. Paul learned to look beyond that, to the things he said are unseen. What he meant and how that enabled him (and can able us) to live victoriously regardless of circumstances are the focus of this message.

Paul occasionally uses the word ‘know’ in the special sense of ‘know for certain’. These occasions point us to another source of Paul’s overcoming life. We’ll discover six things Paul was certain of (and we, too can be certain of) and how these helped him live above the troubles and problems he experienced.

In this message we’ll take a fast overview of one of Paul’s most potent ‘secrets’ for living a victorious life: the Holy Spirit dwelling in us. We’ll discover 15 things the Holy Spirit does for every believer and five instructions we must obey to enjoy the victorious life Paul enjoyed.

Paul’s second ‘secret’ to being able to live victoriously in every circumstance is something he wrote about often, that all believers are “in Christ”. Over 180 times Paul uses this phrase or one like it in his letters. Sometimes it is simply Paul’s way of saying a person is a Christian (they are in Christ). Other times, however, it means much more. Theologians call this other use of the term as union with Christ. In this message we’ll explore this use of the term and see how it helped Paul be an overcomer and how it can help us live victoriously no matter what our circumstances.

We begin looking at the ‘secrets’ Paul had for living the overcoming, victorious life. The first one is that Jesus Christ lives in us. We’ll see today how this helped Paul to be an overcomer, and how it can help us to live victoriously today.

One thing early Christians stand out for is that no matter hard people tried, they could not keep them down. One of the great examples of this ability to overcome is the apostle Paul. In this series we’ll discover the secrets Paul revealed to living a victorious or overcoming life.

This message answers the question, “What does it mean to live victoriously? What does it mean to be an overcomer?” We’ll look to Paul’s experiences for the this answer.
