God doesn't want bits and pieces of us. He wants all of us. He wants us to be fully surrendered to him. He wants every part of us for every moment of our life. Paul uses the language of sacrifice to express this truth, encouraging us in the strongest terms to offer up ourselves as a living sacrifice to God. This is a basic decision of the Christian life. We make it once and for all and then live by it.
