Most of us want to be home for Christmas - or at least with family and friends if possible. "There's No Place Like Home for the Holidays" and "I'll Be Home for Christmas" are popular songs that express the feeling most of us have. To be without a home or family at Christmas can be a very lonely experience.
One person's life mission was to leave home for Christmas. His name is Jesus, the Son of God, and in our passage in Philippians we'll be reminded what it cost Jesus so we could have a Christmas to celebrate. God's love for us shines through in the sacrifice his Son made so he could be born in Bethlehem on Christmas Day.
